Edublox Reading and Learning Centre
Now Open in Bloemfontein
Annelize Lategan proudly opened the doors of the first Free State-based Edublox Reading and Learning Clinic in May this year.
Annelize, who was a teacher for two years, identified that there was a specific need to help children with learning difficulties. “It was incredibly frustrating that I couldn’t do more to help the learners who were battling with their lessons, so I started investigating different ways of improving my teaching skills,” says Annelize.
Despite the difficult economic times, Annelize recognised the value of opening her own business and saw the opportunities to be gained by investing in an Edublox franchise. There has been a steady increase in the number of women franchisees in South Africa and currently 23.28% of all franchisees are women.
“Edublox attracted my attention and I knew that I could not pass on this opportunity to help more learners, especially in the Bloemfontein area. So, I grabbed the opportunity and am very excited to have opened an Edublox clinic, offering classes in both English and Afrikaans.”
With a literacy rate of only 50% at grade three level and language competency at a shocking 21% at grade six level, reported in the Free State Province in 2011, it is clear that the province would benefit from additional learning programs such as Edublox.
Many parents are faced with being told that their child has a ‘learning problem’. They then don’t have any idea what to do or where to turn to. “I have been amazed by the results of learners who follow the program and are able to overcome their learning problems,” adds Annelize.
The Edublox methodology is based on 30 years’ practical experience combined with 50 years of intensive research about reading and learning. Edublox have helped learners in South Africa as well as internationally and certain Edublox products are exported to eight countries worldwide. The latest and best technologies are presented at the Edublox clinics.
Edublox sharpens attention and concentration, develops accurate perception, improves memory and promotes logical thinking. Edublox improves reading, spelling and writing, and caters for children with reading problems, dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other learning difficulties. School readiness classes are presented to prevent learning problems, as well as study methods courses for Grade 4 to 9 learners.
